Pembrokeshire Mind are a voluntary group who work for a better life for everyone with experience of mental distress. We work to promote a positive attitude and reduce stigma associated with mental health. .Pembrokeshire Mind Sir Benfro was founded in its current form in May 1987. Between 1987 and 1992 the seeds of a Befriending Project and a Women in Mind group were sown. The first Chairperson of Pembrokeshire Mind was Geoff Pettitt, a social worker in Pembrokeshire, its first Secretary was Hywel Davies, and its first Treasurer Tony Wilson. It plays an important part in mental health Service provision in Pembrokeshire because it compliments the health service and social services in relation to the issue of mental health in Wales' premier county. The Resource Centre, Carers and Befriending, Housing, Women in Mind, Campaign Group - including Food & Mood and Nolton Haven Green Coast Care Group all play a significant role in contributing towards mental health service delivery in Pembrokeshire - a service which is more holistic, more progressive and more emancipatory |
